National University Pep Squad donates to SM Cares for Yolanda Survivors

11 months after super typhoon Yolanda struck the country, some of our brothers and sisters in Visayas are still living in tents and waiting for shelter from the government.

National University Pep Squad donates to SM Cares for Yolanda Survivors

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by ‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you took me in.’ Hungry not only for bread — but hungry for love.”

September 18, 2014- I was one of the lucky bloggers to be invited in the thanksgiving celebration of National University (NU) PEP Squad for bagging the championship at the 77th UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
The NU gymnasium was filled with students and professors, together with SM executives to personally meet the champions. Applause and cheers welcomed NU Pep Squad during the repeat performance of their winning performance.

The overwhelming support from their alma mater led to NU Pep Squad in donating a portion of their prize winnings (Php 200,000) to the Yolanda survivors through SM Cares Yolanda Housing Project. The Manager of the Pep Squad also surprises everyone by donating another Php 200,000!
This is their way of giving back to the community and helping those who are in need.

SM Cares is committed to build 1,000 houses (with each house costing P250,000 to build) to help Yolanda survivors. These houses are designed to be disaster-resilient with concrete ceilings and plenty of ventilation.

When it comes to donating, no amount of money is small! Php 200k may not be enough to provide every survivor with a shelter, but collectively, these donations can make a huge difference! This is why people say, "Every donation counts!"

Regardless of the amount, every donation is a sacrifice on the part of the donor. With that, I'd like to commend NU Pep Squad for their generosity and sincerity to help the victims of the Yolanda.
Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.

I’m a proud Nationalians. Go Bulldog!
